United Way Nearing 70% of Goal

It was reported at today’s United Way report meeting that the campaign is at $ 4,584,018, 69.5 percent of the goal. The report meeting was held at Lieutenant’s in Hollywood Connection/Ritz 13 to discuss the progress of the campaign. United Way’s campaign cabinet met to discuss their accomplishments and obstacles during the campaign.
“The goal is certainly within reach,” said Rodney Mahone, co-chair of the 2011 United Way campaign and publisher of the Ledger Enquirer. “As we approach the end of the campaign, we need to make sure that no opportunities are missed.”
A number of companies have had great success with their campaigns. Russell County Schools raised $2,500 more than last year, and Phenix City Schools raised $1,500 over goal.
Columbus Water Works wrapped up its campaign with a raffle drawing, raising $7,000 over goal. J.H. Williams pledged $4,168, which is 140 percent of goal. W.C. Bradley also exceeded its campaign goal. TSYS announced at its campaign celebration that its employees pledged $1,119,000, which is $69,000 over goal. It is the largest single gift in the history of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley.
“The residents of the Chattahoochee Valley have been quite generous with their donations to help those in need- as always,” said Mahone. “We are appreciative of the continuing support for United Way, even in these difficult times. If you haven’t given to United Way, I encourage you to do so. Your donation can truly make a difference.”
United Way staff recognized one campaign cabinet member for their superior work in the campaign so far. Winner, Mark “Blazin’ Trail” Baker with Hughston Clinic/ Jack Hughston Memorial Hospital. He was recognized for having the highest percentage increase in her campaign accounts from 6.5 percent to 53.9 percent.
