In good spirits, City Manager Isaiah Hugley, on behalf of all Columbus Consolidated Government employees, has “challenged” City Manager Wallace Hunter and employees of Phenix City Government to a United Way City Challenge. The “challenge” was presented today during the Columbus Consolidated Government campaign kick off at the Columbus Georgia Convention and Trade Center.
According to campaign officials from United Way, the contest between two of the organization’s largest employee campaigns will be decided on two factors:
- The highest percentage increase in participation from the previous year.
- The highest percentage increase in total giving from the previous year.
- Note: In case of a tie, the decision will be based on the highest percent over their agreed overall goals.
The challenge is based on pledges received in the United Way office by close of business (5 p.m.) Friday, Dec. 31. The “losing” city will agree to prepare a proclamation from its City Council stating that the opposing city met and exceeded the goals of the United Way City Challenge and the city manager and/or mayor of the “losing” city will present the proclamation at the “winning” city’s January City Council meeting.
