United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley has four initiatives: Our Youth programs, Women United, Stuff The Bus, and (VITA) Volunteer Income Tax Assistance.
United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley’s two youth programs are United Way Youth Council (UWYC) and Youth Camp. UWYC is a student-led community change organization that operates on a yearly basis. With support from United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley and representatives from each participating school, students in UWYC help impact the community, grow as leaders, and develop relationships within the non-profit sector.
Youth Camp is an annual three-day event in February for 7th graders that gives them a chance to get involved with local non-profits.
Women United is a network of dynamic women leaders who are committed to engagement in the community through the works and programs of United Way of the Chattahoochee Valley.
Stuff The Bus is our annual school supply drive in which United Way partners with local companies and the community at large to donate, collect, sort, and distribute supplies to local schools with the greatest need. A total of 4,620 backpacks were stuffed with school supplies for Stuff The Bus 2016.
River Valley VITA Coalition (Volunteer Income Tax Assistance) is a community collaborative whose mission is to enhance the financial well-being of families and individuals by providing free tax preparation. The coalition exists for the primary purpose of organizing and operating free tax preparation sites and also providing education on various financial and asset building initiatives.
